Mitch Berg cannot wipe that smile off of his face. He is a self-taught artist based in Albuquerque, NM. With a degree in journalism (University Wyoming, 1986) and a background in radio, and tribal textiles, storytelling is a central component to his mixed media sculpture.

Since 1996, Mitch has worked with fused and lampwork glass, adding elements of welded scrap metal, altered wood, and found objects to create one-of-a-kind constructions. His work incorporates humor and humanity, delighting audiences and building a solid collector base. Since 2001, Mitch has participated in art shows across the country at which his iconic, colorful creations have received numerous awards.

Mitch is also the director of Fuego, a collaborative art studio in Albuquerque's South Valley. Founded in 2016, Fuego hosts individual workshops, provides access to tools, runs a non-profit apprentice program, and features a set of overnight accommodations. Supported by community partners and generous funders, Fuego is a hub for creativity, learning and fun.
